A city woman, vacationing in a small village, seduces a farmer and convinces him to kill his wife. However, when the time comes to drown the wife in the lake, the farmer can't bring himself to do it, and she escapes, catching a passing tram. The farmer follows, and the tram takes the couple to the city. There, gradually, they reunite, discovering laughter and celebration in the urban atmosphere.
